Kidney stone disease is a problem that is defined as the formation of sand and stones in the kidneys and causes intense pain in the patient. Kidneys are organs that are functional in excreting waste materials from the body and filter the substances necessary for the body.
Symptoms Of Kidney Stone Disease
Since small stones are excreted from the body by passing through the urinary canal, no symptoms are seen. However, large kidney stones can get stuck in the kidney or in the ureter (the tube that connects the kidney and bladder). Pain is one of the most common complaints in this case. The feeling of pain is mild in some patients, while it can be quite severe in others. Other symptoms of kidney stone are as follows;
- Polyuria
- Hematuria
- Fever and chill
- Pain during urination
- Difficulty urination or less urine
- Nausea and vomiting
In case of these complaints, an experienced urologist should be consulted. In this process, the patient's history is evaluated and urinary system radiography and ultrasonography scans may be needed. In addition, a blood test is performed to determine the structure of the stones.
Computed tomography and intravenous pyelography (IVP) can be used in the planning of kidney stone treatment.
Treatment Of Ankara Kidney Stone Disease
It is very important to follow a qualified way for the treatment of Ankara kidney stone disease. The size of the kidney stone plays an important role in planning the treatment. Determining the location of the stone in the kidney is also necessary in order to evaluate the probability of the stone excreting spontaneously. In case of frequent recurrence of kidney stone formation, further evaluations such as parathormone and vitamin D tests and 24-hour urine parameters are required.
For the treatment of kidney stones smaller than 5 mm, plenty of water should be consumed and painkillers and antispasmodic drugs should be taken. In this way, it is aimed that the stone will be excreted spontaneously. However, interventional and surgical treatment methods may be needed when the size of the kidney stone is larger than 5 mm.
There are multiple methods for the treatment of kidney stones. These methods is determined according to the location of the stone, its size, the presence of additional pathologies and the patient's preference. ESWL is the simplest treatment modality. The process of spontaneous excretion of the stone from the body after the fragmentation of the stone with the ESWL method has been frequently performed in recent years. In the treatment of kidney stones with the ESWL method, it is aimed to fragment the stones into small pieces by means of shock waves given outside the body.
Endoscopic stone treatments, percutaneous nephrolithotomy, laparoscopic stone treatments, robotic stone treatments and open surgeries are among the other treatment methods. . The surgical technique called URS (ureteroscope), in which the stone is reached by entering the urinary canal, is one of the leading endoscopic treatments. In this method, the kidney is reached using special tools and stone fragmentation is performed with laser. Percutaneous nephrolithotomy surgery is also an endoscopic method. It is performed for relatively larger stones. The surgical procedure is performed through the endoscopic method under anesthesia. The stones are reached through an incision of 0.5 to 1 centimeter in the lumbar region, and thus the stones are fragmented or removed.
Ankara 6 mm Kidney Stone Treatment
6 mm kidney stones are treated through ESWL, PNL or URS methods. The URS procedure means entering the patient's urinary canal and fragmenting the stones.
